Sankofa Mbofra Fie

Sankofa Mbofra Fie runs an orphanage and school, in the village of Eguafo, near Elmina. Nearly six hundred children from the village attend this school. Sankofa was established in 2006 by David Kwesi Acquah. David was a street child himself and wants to give as many children as possible a better start to life.

Sankofa

A group of children, who are taught at the school, stand outside, next to the bamboo classrooms.

Sankofa’s school used to consist of bamboo classrooms. Although hardly ideal, it meant that the children in Eguafo could go to school, at least. However, it was difficult to have class in windy or rainy weather. The school now consists of wooden classrooms, each with a tin roof. Work has started on constructing a proper school building, made of bricks. CHW would like to help raise funds for this. Sankofa also needs help with paying the teachers’ salaries, and we would like to raise money for this too, as it is vital that these children gain an education.

Sankofa also runs an orphanage. The director, David, hopes that some people might like to start making regular donations towards buying the children’s food. Please get in touch if you think you can help!

CHW has been able to make various donations towards buying food and helping with the teachers’ salaries and we want to be able to continue to make donations. You can get involved with this and help support these children who are greatly in need.
