Join Us in the GlobalGiving Challenge and Help Children in Romania!

We are delighted to be taking part in GlobalGiving UK’s Spring Crowdfunding Challenge. This is the first time CHW has ever been part of a crowdfunding challenge. We would love to invite you to join us is completing this challenge and helping the children at Refugiu, in Romania!

What is the challenge? From 8 June to 13 July, we have to raise £2,500 from fifty different people.

Who will this help? The funds raised during the challenge will sponsor the tutoring and mentoring programme run by the organisation, Refugiu, in the village of Tarlungeni, in Romania. The programme was first started to help eleven siblings, who were living in poverty, and who lost their father, Sorin, to cancer. The programme now helps nineteen children, including the eleven from the original family. Three of the other children who attend are siblings, and their father recently passed away in prison. Tutoring sessions are run every weekday, and help to keep the children in education. Other support, such as assisting the families to enrol the children in school, ensuring the children have medical check-ups, helping the teenagers to register for ID cards and assisting with clothes for school and with food, is given when needed. If we reach the goal of £2,500, we could support this programme for another year!

As well as helping these children, if CHW completes the challenge, we will be given a place on GlobalGiving UK’s website, which will be a great platform for continued support for the children at our various projects!
