Seawind Educare

Seawind Educare

Seawind Educare runs creches for disadvantaged children in Cape Town. When we first started working with Seawind back in 2008, it was running one creche and it now runs three. Many of the children attending these creches live in townships and the Cape Flats – the most deprived areas around Cape Town. Seawind Educare was started by Rita Benjamin, who had a desire to help children. As well teaching and caring for the children, the creche provides a meal for the children each day. CHW would like to help Rita give these children the best possible start to life.

So far, we have given a donation to buy food for the children, and a donation which was used for paint work for the building used by the first creche. Both donations were raised at separate bag packing fundraisers. Thank you to all the volunteers who took part.

We were also able to give a donation for resources for a second creche that Rita opened at the beginning of 2012. From our donation, she was able to buy: tables, chairs, camp cots, mattresses, stationery, ink cartridges, a mini stove, and sand and cement to cover the yard. Thank you to all who made contributions.

We look forward to fundraising for more projects at Seawind Educare in the future!
