Thank You for Supporting our Challenge and Helping Children in Romania!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the fundraising challenge run by GlobalGiving UK. The Challenge was to raise £2,500 from at least 50 different people in five weeks. This was the first crowdfunding challenge we have ever done. At times we were unsure if we would be able to make the targets, but in the end, we raised a total of £6,615 from 61 different people. This was truly amazing and we cannot thank you enough for making this possible!

This will fund Refugiu’s tutoring and mentoring scheme for nineteen disadvantaged children and teenagers in Tarlungeni, Romania for over two years! Robert, the Head of Refugiu, is very grateful for all your help and support.

In addition, out of the the 45 organisations taking part in the challenge, CHW won second place and will be awarded another £1000 from GlobalGiving UK! A last-minute, very generous, donation, by a supporter who prefers to remain anonymous, helped us to reach second place and win the extra funding.

As we completed the challenge successfully, we will now be given a permanent place on GlobalGiving UK’s website, which will help all of the children we work with.

Most of the fundraising took place online, and we are very grateful to Jana and Elsie who did a sponsored 5k run to fundraise too.

We are so grateful to everyone who made a donation and who shared our project page. Some supporters chose to remain anonymous, but others shared their information and they either come from, or are based in, these countries: Australia, Canada, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Taiwan, Uruguay, the USA and Wales! We are touched that people from all over the world came together to help these children. Thank you. You have given these children a brighter future!
