Shanghai Bo Ai Children's Rehabilitation Centre
This Centre helps children with cerebral palsy, autism and other learning difficulties, in Shanghai, China. The founder and director, Gao Ya Li, set it up after being unable to find anywhere which could help her son, who was born with cerebral palsy. There are around thirty children who board at the Centre and fifteen who come during the day.
There are a number of ways we want to assist this Centre. They are summarised below:
Our Wish List for Shanghai Bo Ai Rehabilitation Centre
- New Equipment:
This would be aquired through extensive fundraising and donations. The type of equipment needed is very expensive. - Secondhand Equipment in Good Condition:
As it is hard to find the necessary equipment in China, the Centre would be happy to accept secondhand equipment. What may not be needed any more in a centre in the UK could be put to good use there. If you may be able to help us with this, please get in touch! - Help with Shipping the Equipment:
Once we have obtained equipment, shipping it to Shanghai will be costly. Covering the cost could be achieved through donations and fundraising. If someone who has links with a shipping company would be able to help us, by lowering the price or even shipping it for free (and we realise we are being very optimistic with that last idea!), this would be really good. If you would be able to help us with this, please get in touch! - Staff for the Centre:
Money raised will go towards paying the salary for highly qualified staff, who will be able to help give these kids the best possible start to life. - Volunteer Physiotherapists:
The director, Gao Ya Li, would be delighted if any physiotherapists from the UK wanted to volunteer at the Centre. This is something we will be looking into in the future. However, if this seems like something you would be interested in, please get in touch with us now anyway.
Gao Ya Li has managed to help many children. You could help her continue her good work.
